SpectraSite sells Concourse interest

CARY, N.C.-Wireless tower operator SpectraSite Holdings Inc. announced Thursday afternoon it has sold its interest in Concourse Communications Group L.L.C., which develops shared wireless tenant infrastructure systems in U.S. airports.

SpectraSite has its own in-building wireless division that is capable of providing services similar to those Concourse provides, explained Stephen Clark, SpectraSite’s president and chief executive officer, of the sale. “Today, SpectraSite has operational in-building wireless systems in many of the nation’s largest casinos, hotels and malls.”

The news, released just before market close on Thursday afternoon, gave a slight boost to SpectraSite’s hurting stock, pushing it up almost six percent to trade at 18 cents per share.

Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
