WASHINGTON-Aloha Partners on Thursday still had the highest bid on the table at the end of six rounds of bidding for the 700 MHz C- and D-blocks license auction.
Aloha Partners’ bid of nearly US$5 million for the Pacific economic area group license remained the top bid at the end of round six. Cavalier Group has bid nearly $5 million for the New York-Newark, New Jersey, consolidated (statistical) market area license.
At the end of round six, gross bids totaled more than US$67 million with 10 bidders dropping out, leaving 115 active bidders.
Although Aloha has now made 30 high bids, its total bid amount is now less than US$11 million. MilkyWay Broadband still has the most high bids at 37, but its total also went down to US$1.8 million.
Congress earlier this year passed a bill prohibiting the Federal Communications Commission from auctioning the majority of the 700 MHz band licenses, but allowing licenses designed for rural carriers to go forward.
