Freedom Wireless gets favorable rulings in BCGI patent suit

PHOENIX-Freedom Wireless Inc. announced two favorable rulings in its patent infringement suit against Boston Communications Group Inc. and several wireless carriers including Verizon Wireless Inc.

One ruling concluded that Freedom had not violated a settlement agreement by bringing the patent infringement suit, as Verizon Wireless had alleged in another suit filed on June 15, 2000. The other ruling said Freedom Wireless is the rightful owner of the patents at issue in the case, not Orbital Science Corp. as BCGI argued in a Motion For Summary Judgment filed June 3, 2002.

“We are extremely pleased by these two rulings as they remove two defenses that BCGI and Verizon have put forward in their continued attempts to prevent our case from going to trial,” said Larry Day, president of Freedom Wireless. “With the resolution of these issues, we will now focus our efforts on the steps necessary to be ready to try our case.”
