HP, Vodafone launch wireless PDA in U.K.

LONDON-Hewlett-Packard Company launched its new wireless personal digital assistant in the United Kingdom through wireless giant Vodafone, the second device to hit European shelves running on Microsoft Corp.’s wireless-capable Pocket PC operating system.

The first was Mmo2’s XDA wireless phone/PDA device.

HP’s new wireless digital assistant (WDA) Jornada 928 features GSM/GPRS-enabled phone functions, a 16-bit color reflective screen and Texas Instruments’ OMAP 710 processor. HP also teamed with several wireless content providers to boost the device’s functionality, including Accor, TomTom and The Wall Street Journal Europe.

The HP Jornada 928 WDA is now available in Vodafone retail stores for about $614 with a contract price plan.
