Logica closes Irish development facility

DUBLIN, Ireland-Just weeks after flagging disappointing financial results and with revenues failing to increase in line with expectations, Logica has decided to close its product development facility in southern Ireland. The Cork facility employs approximately 50 staff. The development work undertaken there will be reassigned within other Logica facilities during the next few months.

Reports in May indicated that up to 150 jobs could be lost in Ireland, but indications are now that the final figure will be around 100. A source within the company confirmed that between 45 and 50 employees at the company’s office in Dublin have been informed of their fate. While previous indications were that most of the job losses would be in administrative positions, the job losses in the Dublin office came across all sections of the company, with a number of staff in the marketing and public relations department among those to be let go.
