JOHANNESBURG, South Africa—Vodacom South Africa has been ordered by the Advertising Standards Authority to withdraw a pamphlet concerning special offers and monthly subscription fee specials.
The authority said the advertisement is misleading because the actual amount for each subscription package is not included. The authority ordered that the advertisements be withdrawn and that when a total monthly cost is advertised, the amount advertised must include the subscription and mandatory costs.
Vodacom said the pamphlet advertises in excess of 60 offers and would be cluttered and lead to illegibility should it be required to include all the figures connected with the packages.
