M/A-Com wins communications system contract in Mich.

LOWELL, Mass.—M/A-Com Inc. has been chosen by Oakland County, Mich., to begin negotiations as the preferred supplier of a new countywide communications system. M/A-COM will deploy its TDMA-based OpenSky network as the county’s new communications network upon contract approval.

“From the beginning of the bidding process, we have been dedicated to working with county officials to provide the best, most cost-effective radio system,” said John Vaughan, vice president of M/A-COM. “With M/A-COM’s OpenSky technology, Oakland County should be confident that the system they are receiving is the most capable system available, with true interoperability, combined voice and data and the substantial increase in capacity inherent in TDMA technology.”
