Hutchison 3G UK signs deal with BBC Technology

LONDON-In an effort to ensure the delivery of audio and visual content over its forthcoming third-generation network, Hutchison 3G UK Ltd. announced a deal with broadcast management company BBC Technology to process and edit news and entertainment content for its network.

“Hutchison 3G requires cutting edge content products technology,” said Philip Langsdale, BBC Technology’s chief executive. “BBC Technology is best positioned to deliver this because of our deep understand of broadcasting, substantial IT engineering experience and editorial expertise.”

Under the deal, BBC Technology won’t provide the carrier’s content, but will instead edit and process it to ensure proper delivery to the handset.

Hutchison won a 3G license in May of last year.
