AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands—Two Dutch third-generation (3G) license holders, Dutchtone, majority owned by Orange, and Ben Nederland, backed by Deutsche Telekom, said they will share parts of their 3G infrastructure. The companies said they would enjoy tremendous cost savings through the agreement.
The companies also said they would roll out 3G services quicker by sharing parts of their networks. The operators will share only the “nonintelligent” parts of the network and maintain separate services and marketing campaigns.
All five incumbent operators in the Netherlands hold 3G licenses.
