Report: Roaming to hamper postpaid card market

LONDON—Frost & Sullivan has released a report stating that roaming could further hamper the expansion of Europe’s postpaid calling card market. In fact, postpaid calling card revenues will plummet from US$273.2 million in 2000 to US$195.9 million in 2007, the market research firm said.

“The dramatic growth in mobile-phone use was anticipated to provide the most effective means of interEuropean communications and destroy the postpaid calling card market in the process,” said Nathan Budd, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “The high cost of this service, however, has forced many organizations to return to the use of postpaid solutions.”
