ATLANTA—AirGate PCS Inc. reported the Securities and Exchange Commission declared effective the proxy statement for its proposed merger with fellow Sprint PCS Network Partner iPCS Inc.
AirGate said it has set up a special meeting of its shareholders for Nov. 27 to authorize, approve and adopt the merger, the merger agreement and issuance of shares of AirGate common stock in the merger. The transaction is expected to close by the end of November.
