Canadian wireless access to Internet to increase

TORONTO—Canadian household Internet accounts will average annual growth of 16 percent between year-end 2000 and 2003, down from a yearly growth of more than 30 percent in the late 1990s.

A new study from Convergence Consulting Group estimated that by year-end 2003, high-speed Internet’s market share will increase to about 60 percent of all Canadian homes that are online. That is up from the current 39 percent of Canadian households with high-speed access.

Significant growth will also be attained through fixed and mobile wireless access by 2003, stated the report.
