Prepaid users offered Internet management service

OXFORD, United Kingdom—Prepaid cell-phone users will now be able to check account details, review account activity and top up balances using a new system announced by Logica. The new service, Web Self-Care, will be provided as part of the company’s customer care and management system, which is already being used by more than 20 million prepaid customers worldwide.

The new software application should help operators gain some information on their many millions of anonymous prepaid subscribers. “As prepaid subscribers account for an increasingly large proportion of an operator’s subscriber base, it is essential to provide operators with the tools that not only drive increased ARPU (average revenue per user) and customer loyalty, but those that effectively satisfy the needs of their prepaid subscriber base,” said Steve Buck, product director of Logica’s intelligent networks group.

According to Logica, prepaid users accessing the service are provided with a complete view of their accounts and up-to-the-minute personal information. “This also enables the operator to reduce call center costs, gain a better understanding of the prepaid subscriber and strengthen the overall relationship,” added Buck.
