TOKYO—The board of directors for the four J-Phone Communications Co. Ltd. companies; East, Central, West and Japan Telecom, agreed to merge their companies into a single J-Phone structure.
The merged company, to be named J-Phone Co. Ltd., is expected to provide faster decision-making processes, increased efficiency, stronger management focus and improved competitiveness in the Japanese market.
Following the merger, which is expected to close Nov. 1, Japan Telecom will hold 45.05 percent of J-Phone Co., Vodafone Group plc will control 39.67 percent with other shareholders holding the remaining 15.28 percent.
