NAPA, Calif.—With its recent acquisition of the M-Business division of Brokat Technologies, eONE Global LP plans to dedicate an entire operating unit to building infrastructure for accepting worldwide mobile payments.
eONE Global will acquire the assets of Brokat’s M-Business division for US$32.8 million, in a transaction expected to be completed by November 1, pending approval of the German Federal Cartel Office and other standard closing conditions.
“This acquisition is strategic to eONE Global’s vision of creating the future of how payments will be made through wireless technologies,” said Garen Staglin, president and chief executive officer of eONE Global. “These advances will transform many low-cost transactions, which are cash and coins today, to electronic and paperless tomorrow.”
eONE Global’s initial plans are to enable payment transactions including digital micropayments, which typically cover entertainment and information services, monthly charges, like phone bills, and higher-value goods and services, like airline tickets.
