ATLANTA-Nextel Communications Inc. launched an improved version of its Direct Connect service in Georgia and Alabama, allowing customers access to co-workers, vendors, suppliers, family and friends throughout their local markets. Previously, customers were limited to using Direct Connect within specific talk Private Networks or Nextel Business Networks.
Nextel said it expects to roll out the improved service to its entire network by the end of the year.
