Nokia to eliminate 1,000 jobs

HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Networks said it will prune about 1,000 jobs as part of its efforts to improve efficiency and optimize its structures to meet changing market needs.

The layoffs of the division, which employs 23,000 workers, will take place gradually between now and the end of the year, according to a company statement.

“The planned changes will help not only to align resources with Nokia Networks’ current business environment but also to restructure its applications development to even better address the requirements of the coming mobile world,” said the company in a statement.
