SAMSys Technologies Inc., a company that provides radio frequency identification (RFID) reader hardware, and Tunity Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, an Asia-Pacific RFID channel development firm, said they plan to join in marketing efforts. According to the agreement between the companies, Tunity will provide solution proposals, channel development, marketing, sourcing and project management services for SAMSys reader architecture. Both companies said they look forward to furthering international growth as a result of the agreement.

Nokia Corp. has signed an approximately $680 million contract with operator Telemar to supply the first GSM network and the Nokia GPRS solution in the country. “Our main goal is to offer state-of-the-art telecommunications services, exceeding the levels of customer and market demand,” said Manoel Horacio Francisco da Silva, president of Telemar.

724 Solutions Inc. announced a partnership with Bank of America in Asia to launch a new, carrier-independent wireless banking service to allow users to perform banking functions over a variety of devices, including mobile phones and personal digital assistants. The deal will allow Bank of America’s Hong Kong customers to view account balances, transfer funds, pay bills and purchase foreign currency. “Together with 724 Solutions, we will deliver the kind of convenience and value-added services that are most important to consumers in the very mobile Hong Kong market,” said Samuel Tsien, the bank’s president and chief executive officer.
Telus Corp., a subsidiary of Clearnet Communications Inc., announced the completion of its May 11 offer to repay and consent solicitation made by Clearnet for its outstanding debt securities. The total consideration was about $1.147 billion, reflecting 99.92 percent of the notes being tendered in the offer.
