Nokia to supply GSM expansion to Fujian Mobile

HELSINKI, Finland-In a deal valued at $230 million, Nokia will supply Fujian Mobile Communications, a Chinese operator, with a GSM 900 and a GSM 1800 network expansion.

The expansion will allow Fujian to add more than 3 million subscribers to its current 4.2 million. This is the sixth expansion Nokia has supplied to Fujian since they began delivering GSM infrastructure to the company in 1995.

Nokia also announced plans to expand its line of VPN solutions for seamless network connectivity. The expansion includes the new Nokia CC5205 Gigabit Ethernet VPN appliance and Windows 2000-compliant Nokia VPN Policy Manager. According to the company, VPNs provide a relatively inexpensive means of extending the corporate network to mobile workers.
