Qualcomm Inc. announced it developed a new Zero Intermediate Frequency technology, radioOne, which will reduce the size and manufacturing costs of CDMA radios. The new technology creates a direct conversion architecture for wireless handsets, the company said. It bypasses the need to convert radio frequency to or from intermediate frequency, then to convert intermediate frequency to or from baseband. Qualcomm said radioOne converts radio frequency signals directly to or from baseband analog signals. Mobilaris AB released its new product, Wireless Portal, which the company said allows wireless carriers to build location-based information databases by letting content owners enter their information in the database while being automatically positioned.
