SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France-The European Tele-communications Standards Institute approved further enhancements of the Terrestrial Trunked Radio standard, offering multimedia services, high-speed data rates, third-generation compatibility and roaming, designed to position TETRA in the 3G marketplace.
“This decision will ensure that the investments made by manufacturers, network operators and users will be protected for many years to come, and that TETRA standards will have its place alongside future 3G technologies,” noted Karl Rosenbrock, director-general at ETSI.
