IMC announces WorldCell offerings

SILVER SPRINGS, Md.-International Mobile Communications released several new wireless offerings from its WorldCell service for people who want to stay in touch while traveling to foreign countries.

A service targeted to students who travel or attend school abroad, WorldCell’s easyRoam is a prepaid international cellular calling plan. The service includes a Global System for Mobile communications handset for rent or purchase that can be programmed with a subscriber identity module with prepaid calling units.

Handset rentals begin at $75 for the first week, and $50 per week thereafter, or customers can purchase a GSM handset for $299. The SIM can be programmed at amounts beginning at 200 units for $20, which equals approximately 10 minutes of talk time, up through 1,000 units at $90, or approximately 50 minutes of talk time.

IMC also announced it is offering a 50-percent discount on its service for people traveling to Australia during September for the Olympic games.

“This is our way of providing those attending the Olympics with the chance to share their experience with those back home, or, to keep up with business while enjoying those world-class events,” explained Greg Buckman, marketing vice president for WorldCell.
