SBC reports increased domestic subscriber revenues

SAN ANTONIO-SBC Communications Inc. added 537,000 wireless customers, an increase of 70 percent compared with the previous year, and a 30.6-percent increase in domestic wireless subscriber revenue to $1.6 billion for the second quarter ended June 30.

The company reported a 9.8-percent increase in operating revenue, excluding one-time charges, from $12 billion during second-quarter 1999 to $13.2 billion during the second quarter this year. Operating revenue was up from $12.2 billion to $13.2 billion during the same time period.

Net income, excluding one-time charges, increased from $1.91 billion last year to $1.92 billion this year. Net income dropped from $1.93 billion during the second quarter of 1999, to $1.85 billion during the second quarter of 2000.

Shareholders saw a slight increase in earnings per share, excluding one-time charges, from 55 cents per share for the second quarter last year to 56 cents per share this year. Diluted earnings per share were down from 56 cents per share last year, to 54 cents per share this year.
