Nokia wins W-CDMA contract in Singapore

HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. signed an agreement with StarHub, a fixed and mobile telecommunications provider in Singapore, to supply a third-generation network solution, including Nokia’s wideband Code Division Multiple Access 3G core and radio access network equipment.

“Individuals and businesses in Singapore have enthusiastically embraced mobile technology as penetration rates have reached more than 50 percent for handphones,” said Terry Clontz, chief executive officer of StarHub. “We believe the market for broadband services will show a similar growth pattern over the next two years as new Internet Protocol-based applications require more bandwidth and consumers demand higher levels of performance.”

Nokia valued the contract at approximately $300 million.
