BOSTON-Online investors are readily adopting wireless devices such as smart phones, two-way pagers and personal digital assistants to monitor and manage their financial portfolios, according to findings in a new study released by Fidelity Investments.
“The number of people using wireless investing devices is remarkable considering that the technology has only been available for a couple of years,” said Joseph G. Ferra, senior vice president, Fidelity Online Brokerage. “Since Fidelity launched its proprietary application for wireless investing in October 1998, the number of InstantBroker accounts has grown to more than 56,000.”
A nationwide survey found one out of three online traders used a PDA or two-way pager to monitor their investments, and one out of five used one or both devices to place trades.
