NTCA creates alliance to help ILECs in new world

WASHINGTON-The National Telephone Cooperative Association has created the Competitive Communications Carriers Alliance to help its members transition from monopolies to successful competitors.

“The traditional marketplace that [incumbent local exchange carriers] are used to is evolving and they must rethink the way they conduct business. [The alliance] will assist our ILECs in developing a comprehensive strategy to succeed in this new competitive era,” said Michael E. Brunner, NTCA chief executive officer.

The alliance is only open to NTCA members and will, among other things, research competing product/service packaging and pricing.
