MUNICH, Germany-Siemens Information and Communication Network unveiled its strategy for next-generation enterprise Internet Protocol communications.
The Siemens Enterprise Convergence Architecture, called HiPath, enables a company’s existing voice and data infrastructures and applications to interoperate globally over all networks by using an open standard and distributed architectures.
“IP technology is still an early-adopter solution, and widespread deployment will take place over several years, due to scalability, interoperability, quality of service, security and latency issues,” said Ken Landoline, vice president and director of telecom research at the Robert Frances Group. “Siemens’ HiPath is one of the most comprehensive architectures that we have seen to date to address many of these key issues.”
HiPath includes offerings for customer relationship management, Web-based call centers, e-business, collaboration-internal cooperation and virtual teams-and mobile working.
Siemens also notes that its HiPath architecture further provides interoperability between different applications, workpoints and networks, enabling scalable, end-to-end solutions to operate over voice networks, data networks or any combination.
Siemens expects products based on HiPath to be available for demonstration by the end of February.
