Telstreet.com announced it offers wireless phones, service and accessories online. “Telstreet.com takes responsibility for the entire customer experience from buying to fulfillment to delivery of the order,” said Terry Dwyer, president and chief executive officer of Telstreet.com. “Consumers are guaranteed to find the wireless package that best meets their needs or their money back.” Telstreet.com has service provider relationships with AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Sprint PCS and Nextel Communications Inc. and offers products from Ericsson Inc., Motorola Inc., Qualcomm Inc. and others.
Winstar Communications Inc. is offering data and Internet services in the top 60 U.S. markets, one year ahead of schedule, and the company also said it is planning to construct data centers in every Winstar central office across the country. “Customer demand for data services has grown exponentially,” said William J. Rouhana Jr., Winstar’s chairman and chief executive officer. “By rolling out our data services to the top 60 markets one year ahead of schedule … Winstar will realize significant cost savings and revenue opportunities in the fourth quarter and into 2000. “We intend to use our regional data centers as distribution nodes to implement national Internet video streaming and Web content distribution solutions for our hosting customers,” Rouhana added.
Strategy.com launched a beta version of its Wireless Application Protocol service, extending its personal intelligence network to wireless phone users. Strategy.com sends personalized information and alerts on a push basis to subscribers. Services include finance, weather and sports. The WAP solution also allows users to send queries for the same information.
Decide.com, an online provider of wireless products and services, said it raised $16.5 million in a second round of equity financing, bringing the total capital raised in 1999 to $20.5 million. The round was led by Advanced Technology Ventures and Morgenthaler, with participation from the major existing investors, including Information Technology Ventures and J.F. Shea & Co. The company also announced it added Steven Baloff, general partner of ATV, and Gary Little, general partner of Morgenthaler, to its board of directors.
