TIA PUBLISHES SPREAD SPECTRUM AND OTHER STANDARDS

ARLINGTON, Va.-The Telecommunications Industry Association published several new standards and documents. They include:

The “Mobile Station-Base Station Compatibility Standard for Wideband Spread Spectrum Cellular Systems,” TIA/EIA-95-B. It details the requirements necessary to ensure a mobile station can obtain service in a cellular or personal communications services system.

The “Data Service Options for Wideband Spread Spectrum Systems,” TIA/EIA/IS-707-A. The document describes data services available on spread spectrum systems.

The “Project 25-Vocoder Reference Test,” TIA/EIA-102.BABC. The standard describes a vocoder reference test for codecs meeting the Project 25 requirements. The overall purpose of this standard is to provide a means for measuring performance levels between any pairing of manufacturer’s encoders and decoders.

The “Enhanced Digital Access Communications System Land Mobile Radio System Packet Data Specification,” TSB69.1-2. It defines the packet data interfaces, protocols and procedures required to support the optional packet services. These interfaces are used to support the mobile-to-fixed host and mobile-to-mobile data services defined in the TSB.

The new telecommunications systems bulletin, “Administration of Parameter Value Assignments for TIA/EIA Spread Spectrum Standards,” TSB58-A. The TSB assigns values to parameters within certain TIA/EIA spread spectrum standards for normal and proprietary usage. The TIA/EIA spread spectrum standards specify the operating and performance characteristics of digital spread spectrum systems.
