Motorola Inc. announced Office Depot will begin carrying the PageWriter 2000 two-way pager in more than 600 retail locations nationwide.
TSR Wireless L.L.C. said it has built a ReFLEX 25 two-way messaging network on the West Coast, adding coverage in southern California and into Nevada. According to the company, it will complete network field testing in May and expects to begin selling services on it in June. Initially, TSR plans to offer only 1.5-way, or guaranteed messaging, on the network, but expects to evolve to full two-way services once ReFLEX 25 subscriber devices are made available. The company added it has a beta system in central Pennsylvania. TSR said the network there was built specifically as a test bed for product integration and other testing. TSR said it plans to extend coverage into new areas during the next two quarters.
Sprint Corp. launched its “Point of Contact” national multimedia advertising campaign. The ads will feature products such as Sprint ION, Sprint PCS wireless services and Sprint Sense Anytime long distance and will run in major newspapers and magazines, on network prime time TV, as well as during network events. Radio and Internet advertising is planned as well. The campaign was created by Grey Advertising and McCann-Erickson, both of New York, said Sprint.
Bell Atlantic Mobile announced its Web site, www.bam.com, now offers an assortment of wireless phone accessories to both Bell Atlantic Mobile customers and others. The company also announced it will be the exclusive service provider for Wireless Zone. Wireless Zone plans to open a dozen stores this year with the first store openings planned in Mount Laurel, N.J., and Feasterville, Pa.
Cellemetry L.L.C., OmniMetrix and Nixon Power Services said they have collaborated on a solution to wirelessly monitor power generator systems. The ESP Monitoring Program will be distributed by Nixon Power, a distributor of Kohler Power Systems. The solution uses OmniMetrix’s products to monitor the generators and Cellemetry’s technology and cellular carrier partner network to transmit data such as alarms and monthly reports.
