ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-CommNet Cellular Inc. reported results for the three months ended Dec. 31,
1998. The company added 36,865 subscribers during the period, 19,622 from increased penetration and 17,243 through
certain South Dakota property acquisitions.
The company said the numbers represent an increase of 13 percent from
the 282,398 subscriber base it had at the beginning of the fiscal year. In addition, the new proportionate subscribers
added in that quarter were 45 percent greater than the 13,571 customers added in the same quarter the previous
year.
“In these times of vibrant growth and innovation in customer service and pricing, our 30 percent
reduction in churn is both dramatic and rewarding. Our policy of customer service above all else has resulted in loyalty
and additional subscribers who remain on our system,” said Arnold Pohs, chairman and chief executive
officer.
CommNet also reported a 30 percent reduction in churn for the same quarter.
Revenue in consolidated
markets increased 18 percent during the period, from $38.7 million during the same time in 1997.
