LCC, ALLEN TELECOM CANCEL SWAP PLANS

MCLEAN, Va. and BEACHWOOD, Ohio-LCC International Inc. and Allen Telecom Inc. decided not to swap LCC’s test and measurement equipment and related software analysis tools business for the engineering, software and consulting business of Allen Telecom’s Comsearch division.

The companies said they re-evaluated the strategic nature of their respective businesses involved in the proposed transaction during the due diligence period, and determined that shareholders would be better served by not proceeding with the deal.

The transaction would have given McLean, Va.-based LCC a presence in radio-frequency and microwave engineering, program management, tower ownership and management and network maintenance and operations activities. Allen Telecom, based in Beachwood, Ohio, would have focused on supplying a comprehensive base of product design, development and manufacturing equipment to the wireless infrastructure market.
