EDISON, N.J.-AAT Communications Corp. will manage the marketing and collocation activities for Union Pacific Railroad Co.’s network of 1,200 towers located along its more 36,000 miles of railroad, under a new agreement signed by the companies, said AAT.
Union Pacific has towers and rights of way in 23 states and serves the western two-thirds of the United States, including the eastern portal cities of Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans and Memphis, Tenn. AAT said the agreement with Union Pacific allows it to offer wireless service providers immediate access to towers west of the Mississippi River.
AAT plans to construct new towers along UP’s railroad rights of way in cases where the existing structures do not meet a carrier’s needs, said AAT.
