ATLANTA-Intellivoice Communications Inc. announced its EasyDial voice-activated dialing technology will be available to wireless carriers on a service bureau basis through an arrangement with Premiere Technologies Inc.
The agreement will allow wireless carriers to subscribe to the EasyDial technology and offer it to their customers without needing to buy any specialized equipment or hire support staff for it.
Premiere is an enhanced communications services provider and system integrator of e-mail, Internet services, voice mail, fax, conference calling and mobile communications. The company will handle the integration between Intellivoice’s technology and the service provider’s network.
“By establishing this service with Intellivoice, wireless carriers will be able to provide their customers with voice-activated dialing in the short term and other enhanced services in the future without having to make large, up-front capital investment,” said Boland Jones, chairman and chief executive officer of Premiere.
EasyDial is a voice recognition technology that lets users dial their phone using voice commands by speaking the name of the person they wish to call. No manual dialing is needed. Voice activated dialing will be the first service offered. Premier will offer other enhanced services in upcoming months, from companies other than Intellivoice.
In May, Premiere bought a minority stake in Intellivoice and Jones joined the Intellivoice board of directors.
The company has since begun developing speech technology to integrate with Premiere’s Orchestrate Web-based communications package.
