SAN JOSE, Calif.-LGC Wireless received patent approval for its LGCell distributed antenna system, which allows cellular and personal communications services carriers to provide in-building services.
“We have been notified that all 30 claims under our patent were issued,” said David Cutrer, vice president of engineering. “This patent covers the fundamental technology used in the LGCell product line, providing for transmission of wireless signals over multimode fiber and twisted pair cable.”
The “plug-and-play” nature of the LGCell differentiates the LGCell from other in-building solutions, Cutrer said. Instead of relying on coaxial cable, the antenna connects seamlessly with the multimode fiber/twisted pair cable infrastructure found in most office buildings.
LGC already received type acceptance for the LGCell from the Federal Communications Commission, said Cutrer. The company is in full production with the LGCell product line, designed for analog and digital cellular and PCS-based system.
