RCR TOP 20 Paging Carriers
The RCR research and editorial staffs have compiled this list of the 20 largest paging companies in the United States from survey responses and interviews with industry contacts. Rankings are based on carriers’ reported total number of paging subscribers.
The numbers shown do not reflect Metrocall Inc.’s acquisition of ProNet Inc., because the merger has not yet been completed. Metrocall noted that once the merger is finished, it expects to report about 4.1 million subscribers, making it the second-largest paging company, after Paging Network Inc.
Newcomers to the list are Network Services L.L.C. and Southern Net Association of Paging, which bumped PagePrompt USA and Nationwide Paging Inc. from the Top 20. Nationwide, however, said it is in discussions about a possible merger, the results of which could increase its subscriber numbers to 185,000.
