CHICAGO-Ameritech Cellular Services said it recently deployed its Wireless Monitoring Solution to support real-time, on-line automated meter reading for Commonwealth Edison of Illinois. Approximately 1,600 meters have been equipped for wireless data monitoring so far, the company said.
Commonwealth Edison said it selected Ameritech’s product to provide real-time billing and consolidate billing for its high-usage, multiple-meter customers. By transmitting data to a central location, utility personnel no longer need to visit each site.
