SYNOPSYS, LUCENT JOIN FOR GSM TOOLS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-Synopsys Inc. and Lucent Technologies Inc.’s microelectronics group have agreed to jointly develop hardware and software design tools and services for Global System for Mobile communications cellular telephone manufacturers. Synopsys will provide consulting services and the COSSAP electronic system design automation tools, and Lucent will provide behavioral models of the Sceptre chipset. The tools will reduce the time it takes to verify the performance of GSM terminal designs using Lucent’s Sceptre GSM chipset.
