Editor’s Note: The RCR research and editorial staffs have compiled this list of the 20 largest international paging markets by country based on information supplied by Economic and Management Consultants International Inc. and the International Telecommunications Union.

Ranking is based on the estimated number of paging subscribers reported for each country. Penetration rates were computed using mid-1996 population figures from the 1997 Information Please Almanac.

This Top 20 feature contains new research and may not be comparable to prior years’ lists. Pagerola Inc. plans to introduce FLEX-based devices to Taiwan during the first quarter. Glenayre Technologies Inc. partnered with LG Electronics in November to bring FLEX paging technology to South Korea.

The RCR Top 20 is the property of RCR Publications Inc. Information from this listing cannot be reprinted without permission from the company. 1997, RCR Publications Inc.
