AirNet Communications Corp. named Dr. Lee Hamilton vice president of product engineering. Hamilton will be responsible for developing and implementing AirNet’s wireless broadband base station and related infrastructure equipment products. Hamilton previously served as general manager of system transmission products at Motorola Inc.’s Information Systems Group.

The Personal Communications Industry Association appointed Brenda Maxfield media relations manager. Maxfield, a former director and spokesperson for a Washington, D.C., nonprofit organization, will oversee media relations and public affairs activities for the association.

Mark Becker, a former attorney for Abacus Communications, now is communications consultant for PCIA and Catherine Graham has been named communications associate. Becker will be the liaison between PCIA’s Communications team and Industry Affairs. Graham will provide media relations and communications support.

Howard Case was named vice president of marketing at Socket Communications Inc. Case will be responsible for defining and implementing Socket’s marketing strategies as the company works toward its goal of integrating paging and mobile computing. Prior to joining the company, Case worked for RAM Mobile Data, where he held several positions including vice president of wireless messaging.

ArrayComm has named George Rossman to its board of directors. Rossman is a vice president in the Information Technology group of BankAmerica Ventures, the venture capital arm of BankAmerica Corp.

CellularVision USA appointed Charles Garber chief financial officer and vice president of finance for CellularVision of New York, CVUSA’ operating subsidiary. Garber’s background includes extensive financial, strategic and operating experience in the telecommunications and cable TV industries, most recently with ICS Communications.

Charles Kissner was elected chairman of the board of directors at Digital Microwave Corp., replacing Cliff Higgerson who will remain an outside director of the company. Kissner joined Digital Microwave in July 1995 as president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. He will remain president and CEO.

IFR Systems Inc. named Joseph Hartmann director of human resources. He will oversee the operation of the human resources department, including recruitment, training and compensation activities of the company. Hartmann formerly was head of human resources at Izumi Corp. and AMF Bowling Products.

Dennis Coley joined IFR Systems as the company’s radio frequency division controller. Coley, who previously served as the corporate controller/assistant treasurer at Learjet Inc., will lead day-to-day operation of the finance department, including staff management, financial and tax reporting and operational plan development.

Comm Site International appointed Jeffrey Bates vice president/controller; Geoffrey Tinkham vice president of business development/site management; Patrick McGuire director of personal communications services business development; Len Russek vice president of site management; Jeff Staley vice president of site acquisition and development; and Lisa Schmidt vice president of site leasing.

Comm Site is a site acquisition and site management firm serving the wireless telecommunications industry. The company manages properties for the location of wireless antenna in several states and conducts the acquisition and development of sites for wireless companies.

Authentix Network Inc., a roaming and fraud prevention company, announced it added two executives to its board of directors.

Roger H. Moore, president and chief executive officer of Illuminet Inc., will bring 30 years of management experience in telecommunications and information technology, including assignments in marketing, sales, engineering, data processing, strategic planning and alliance and national and international business development, said Illuminet. Prior to his present position, he served in a number of executive capacities.

Also named to the Authentix board is William M. Newport, who has 40 years of telecommunications management experience. Newport retired from Bell Atlantic Corp. in 1992, where he was a member of the Office of the Chairman. As vice president of strategic planning, he was responsible for corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and business development.

Mobile Telecommunications Technology Corp. has appointed Robert Kaiser chief financial officer. Kaiser replaces Jack Welsh,1/4MDNM
