TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-A proposal made earlier this year by Florida Governor Lawton Chiles to tax the state’s cellular customers for distance learning and 911 services is defunct.
Gail Sittig, a spokeswoman in the governor’s budget office said the proposed tax “was never even heard … It never got anywhere.”
Cellular carriers had opposed the 50-cents-per-month tax.
