PRICELLULAR PLANS TO BUY POUGH KEEPSIE, N.Y., MSA

NEW YORK-PriCellular Corp. announced it has exercised an option to acquire 83 percent of the Dutchess County major service area from United States Cellular Corp.

The MSA includes the city of Poughkeepsie and has about 263,000 pops. PriCellular said Dutchess County MSA abuts New York rural service area-6, which is also the subject of a pending acquisition by PriCellular. The MSA was acquired with cash and a note totaling about $178 per pop, with half paid in cash and the balance in a three-year prime note with a bullet maturity.
