MOTOROLA SET TO FURNISH CELLULAR PRODUCT TO CHINA

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Motorola INc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group and Xi ‘an Datang Telephone Co. have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly provide cellular and wireless local loop base station and switching wquipment to the Chinese market.

The agreement includes Motorola’s code Division Multiple Access digital Technology and Datang’s SP30 super switching equipment.

“Our cooperative effort will allow up to provide Chinese operators witha complete CDMA cellular network or fixed wireless system based on open network architecture,” said Jack Scanlon, executive vice president and general manager of Motorola CIG> “As a result, we will deliver high quality base station and switching equipment in a compeititve, open environment.
