MONTVALE, N.J.-Geotek Communications Inc. announced it planned to begin commercial service on its digital specialized mobile radio network in Philadelphia on New Year’s Day.
Geotek activated the network for testing in September 1994 and customer trials began in June 1995. Geotek’s network uses the company’s proprietary Frequency Hopping Multiple Access digital technology to deliver voice and data services on a single handset.
