Mobile-messaging firms to merge

TOULOUSE, France-Mobile-messaging services companies Atchik and Realtime announced a merger between the two companies.

Atchik is a 6-year-old French company that provides white-label mobile services, including chat forums, dating services, games, information, and photo and video applications, to telecom operators and Internet service providers. Denmark-based Realtime specializes in mobile services and portals.

The companies’ founders originally planned to form one company, but the companies went their separate ways instead. Now with the global mobile services market consolidating, the companies decided to merge, they said.

“With the two companies having obtained a certain maturity in a highly competitive market, we were looking to reinforce our positioning as mobile services specialists in that market,” said Bertrand Darrouzet, chief executive officer of Atchik-Realtime. “The merger of Atchik-Realtime indeed enables us to capitalize on complementary product offers, as well as a large international presence allowing us to be close to our clients throughout the world, with offices in France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Spain, Oman, Egypt, Brazil and Mexico.”
