Sony and HTC ready Android-sporting tablets

Tablet fans have two new devices to pore over today thanks to HTC Corp. and Sony Corp. (SNE) Sony announced the Sony Tablet, which will come in two different form factors and designs running on Android. HTC announced its own Android-powered Jetstream.
The Sony Tablet S features a 9.4-inch display and the Sony Tablet P features dual 5.5-inch display that fold into a smaller form factor. Sony Tablet S will begin shipping in September, followed up in November by the Sony Tablet P.
Both of Sony’s tablets sport a 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Sony will release Wi-Fi versions of both devices and has already lined up AT&T Mobility (T) as its exclusive carrier in the U.S. for 4G/HSPA+ capability on the Sony Tablet P.
AT&T snagged another 4G-equipped tablet exclusive in HTC’s Jetstream, but that device will support LTE connectivity. The Jetstream sports a 10.1-inch display, a Snapdragon 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Jetstream is priced high at $700 on a two-year contract for a $35 3GB monthly data plan.
