Alcatel-Lucent signs equipment deals with Chinese operators

Alcatel-Lucent scored a pair of Chinese victories with subsidiaries of China Mobile Ltd. (CHL) and China Telecom Corp. Ltd. (CHA) announcing plans to deploy the company’s 9900 Wireless Network Guardian equipment in their 3G network and operation centers.
The equipment provider reported that Jiangsu Mobile (China Mobile) and Ningxia Telecom (China Telecom) will be able to gather intelligence on usage of IP data on their networks that will allow the carriers to detect “anomalies” on their networks before customers are impacted. Alcatel-Lucent explained that the equipment provides real-time insight into the bandwidth, signaling and airtime of usage on the network.
Financial terms of the deals, which were signed by Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, were not released.
