Fujitsu selects Telefónica as its strategic partner for mobile services in Europe

Telefonica | March 10, 2011 | Press Release
  • Fujitsu and Telefónica sign a Master Service Agreement for the provision and management of mobile services (voice and data) across 15 countries in Europe.
  • 30,000 connections managed through Telefónica’s Central Services worth more than €30m over the contract period (4 years with 1 year extension option)

10 March 2011, London.  Fujitsu, the Japanese global ICT company, has selected Telefónica as its European wireless communications provider for voice and data services for 30,000 connections across 15 countries.

The €30 million four-year contract covers the UK, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Norway, Denmark and Sweden – of which more than 60 per cent are migrations to the Telefónica network, representing a significant win in Europe.

Telefónica Multinational Solutions will assume responsibility for the end to end delivery of customer service management, development and post-sales service in the countries covered by the agreement, coordinating Telefónica Business Units and partners in those countries.

Fujitsu selected Telefónica due to our ability to deliver centralised services, contract management and the capacity to manage local operators in Fujitsu’s most important markets, even where Telefónica does not have local operations.

Fujitsu were seeking strong central management functionality and through the provision of Telefónica’s Central Services are able to manage their wireless services (voice and data) under a single operator, delivering both cost control and improved quality within a unified Master Service Agreement. It also provides economies of scale and facilitates future expansion of the services within Fujitsu’s footprint.

Guy Allen, Vice President Global Sourcing at Fujitsu, said: “We had three main criteria for our decision, service levels, risk and cost.  We assessed all major providers and Telefónica were convincing.  They had the presence across Europe that could support us, the management structure to deliver consistent service and they became an easy choice. It’s vital to Fujitsu to be as responsive and reliable in our communications with our customers as possible and we are confident Telefónica will support us in this.”

Simon Lee-Smith, Head of Sales UK, Telefónica Multinational Solutions, said: “We are delighted to win this business with Fujitsu and look forward to working closely with them in the future.  This shows the power of Telefónica Multinational Solutions and our ability to mobilise resources globally from key markets such as the UK and give multinational customers like Fujitsu what they want.”
