BEIJING-Newly appointed Vice-Minister of Information Industry Gou Zhongwen estimated this week the number of mobile-phone users in China had surpassed the 200 million mark.
Evaluating the first year of China’s membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO), Pete Shinyeda, Motorola corporate vice president, commented that his company is certainly benefiting in the short term in local market development and in the long run by exporting more products from China.
More than 15 percent of Motorola’s income originates from China. “That is a big, big number,” Shinyeda told Xinhua News Agency. He was attending a forum for chief executives of wireless communications companies in Beijing organized by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and Motorola.
