On this week’s NFV/SDN Reality Check we talked with Azmir Mohamed, head of product management at cloud infrastructure provider Plumgrid, to discuss the role of OpenStack in the telecom space. Mohamed touched on Plumgrid’s latest Open Networking Suite 3.0 platform and its role in the OpenStack community; a bit of history on the development of OpenStack; views on how the OpenStack community is meeting the needs of telecom operators; and three challenges Mohamed said he sees impacting continued growth of virtualization platforms across telecom operators.
RCR Wireless News also spoke with Brian Irish, director of marketing at Overture, about the company’s view on the importance of collaboration efforts currently underway in the NFV space in terms of gaining real world experience in NFV. Irish also provided insight into questions surrounding the business case behind the move to NFV, which continues to be a subject with various answers.
For more of that interview with Irish, including Overture’s views on service orchestration, please check out the RCRtv site. You can also gain more perspective on the service orchestration topic by downloading a recent report RCR Wireless News released on the topic and an accompanying webinar.
We will be off next week, but will be back with a new episode of NFV/SDN Reality Check on May 22.
